Drama

In year 5 we have been performing a really exciting play called Theseus and the Minotaur.  It is a Greek myth about a hero, Theseus, who has to kill the monstrous Minotaur.

Our play stars Fraser as Theseus; Logan as King Aegeus; Thomas as the Minotaur; Jake as King Minos; Jacques as the helmsman; Brandon, Stella, Sam M and Kie as the Guards; Matthew as Poseidon; and Ellie ,Emily and Erin as mermaids.

This is Theseus killing the Minotaur.

Here is the labyrinth.

The Lantern Parade

On Wednesday 15th December schools across Dorset went to the Christmas lantern parade in Blandford.
We made our lanterns by taping willow sticks together and covering them with sugar paper.  Here are some people from our class making the lanterns.

Graffiti T-shirts

This week in year 5 we were doing graffiti on our tops.

First we had to bring in a plain t-shirt.
Then we designed our our name in graffiti and we had three examples of graffifiti styles which we had to copy. After that we made our best copies with our favourite designs.Last of all we copied our best copies onto our t-shirts.Here are our finished designs.

Graffiti t-shirts

As part of our 'Cool Stuff' topic we looked at graffiti art and had a go at writing our names using graffiti style lettering. We also brought in coloured t-shirts, and copied our graffiti name designs on to our tops in coloured fabric pens.

Learning To Do At Home Due To School Closure

Write about the snow.  You could write about your own experiences. The writing can be a report, poem, story or a factual piece of writing.  For example, have you ever thought about where snow comes from or which countries have the most snow?  I look forward to reading your writing next week.

In Maths we have been practising doubling and halving.
Choose a section of questions you can do.

A.    Double 20=
Double 50=
Double 35=
Double 16=
Double 150=
Halve 20=
Halve 26=
Halve 62=
Halve 140=
Halve 420=

B.     52 x 2 =
76 x 2 =
67 x 2 =
280 x 2 =
870 x 2 =
3500 x 2 =
84 ÷ 2 =
116 ÷ 2 =
63 ÷ 2 =
560 ÷ 2 =
1450 ÷ 2 =

C.     3.4 x 2 =
2.5 x 2 =
4.8 x 2 =
? x 2 = 550
? x 2 = 970
? x 2 = 8300
6.8 ÷ 2 =
8.2 ÷ 2 =
6.3 ÷ 2 =
? ÷ 2 = 7.4
? ÷ 2 = 19.6

Hope you are enjoying the snow!
